This site is intended to provide unbiased third party insight into the Mukurtu CMS development program. This website is in no way affiliated with the Center for Digital Archaeology.
The project has come an awful long way since the team at Mukurtu launched their first ever installment of the software in Tennant Creek. After early success, the team worked at scaling and improving the existing system for wider uptake by indigenous communities.
The team also consulted with a wide range of communities, libraries and academic institutions with a view to shaping the future developmental direction.
Later they engaged with the Plateau Center for American Indian Studies at Washington State University to discuss how academic material can be meshed with the CMS.
Stated Goals for future development included (outdated list):
- Option of adding audio files on the fly
- Integration of maps
- Addition of more public material
